Mass Save & Energy Rebates 2026

The Mass Save program has undergone a major shift for 2026 to meet state climate goals. The focus has moved almost entirely away from fossil fuels toward Air Source Heat Pumps.

2026 Incentives

  • Whole-Home Rebate: Increased to $2,650 per ton, but with a new maximum cap of $8,500 per home.
  • Refrigerant Rule: Systems using the older R-410A refrigerant no longer qualify for rebates; you must install systems using next-gen refrigerants like R-32 or R-454B.
  • Weatherization: You must still complete a Home Energy Assessment to qualify for the full rebate, as the state requires a “weatherization first” approach to ensure heat pumps are sized correctly.
